The first of 3 collab pieces with one of my best friends from high school — how fun is it that we both got into jewelry making!
For this one, I sandcast the seed pod of a Boulder Mountain Iris and Desert Daisy Jewelry played on the flower’s color palette for the handwoven beaded strand. One of a kind, over 10 hours of beading went into this beauty!
Sandcasting is an ancient technique where I create a mold using slightly damp sand and then pour molten silver into the mold. I melt down scraps of recycled sterling silver to create each pendant and the mold can only be used once. It’s a wonderful way to bring the natural world into my art.
Keep an eye out for our other 2 pieces, coming soon :)
